SYTYCD - ANNA'S FAVORITES FOR MADLADYRED

  • Aug. 17th, 2008 at 9:58 PM
JOY OF DANCE
I had been meaning to do this for some time, but life continues to get in the way...especially now which is a very long story, not a good one and I'm tired of only posting negatively on this journal. So, since my dear lass MLR missed a lot of SYTYCD this year, I wanted to give her a chronicle of my favorite routines from this season...enjoy my dear and I missed our weekly commentary.

Joshua & Katee - A Hip Hop Dance about someone getting their orders to ship out to war. Just great.

Chelsea & Mark - A Hip Hop routine about loving a workahaulic. Stunning.

Top 5 Girls Routine - Mia Michaels contemporary about Angels. Beautiful.

Top 5 Guys Routine - Nigel Lythgoe's choreography - just fun as can be!

Top 10 Group Routine - Bollywood style choreography - a great addition/departure for the show!

Mark & Courtney - Burlesque and taudry and odd and I love it so much!

Twitch & Kerrington - Neat contemporary with a prop...kudos!

Katee & Joshua - Wade (thank god), came back with a glorious contemporary routine of a relationship dying but fighting to try to keep it alive and I'm not a big John Mayer fan, but I've downloaded this song already through I-Tunes, it's a great lyrical picture of the end of a relationship. Wow.

Group Performance - Shane Sparks (missed him a lot this season)...just rocks the house down.

Finale Show = Guest Dance Performances that I LOVE it shows they got props! I was so glad to see these!
SAMBA BABY!

TAP YOUR HEART OUT!

I fully expect a routine like that MLR by the end of your classes this semester...kidding, I'm still proud of you!

I MISS YOU AND WANTED YOU TO SEE WHAT REALLY GRABBED ME this season...again, I miss our commentary together but I know you're busy and I'm pretty crazy busy too. We might be at DCon for just a day, we'll try to say hi - send me your phone number!

DAY 1: EXERCISE UP / FOOD NOT YET

  • Jul. 7th, 2008 at 9:24 PM
HAPPY DAY
Hey, so I didn't nail the food intake today, and perhaps it was mostly due to my co-worker offering to buy me lunch which was a cheese calzone. Oh well...the good thing is that I woke up today at 6:30 AM and headed to the gym for 30 minutes on the recumbent bike. I also emailed with my past WW leader to try to get back into the swing with her...hopefully to begin on Wednesday! So, Day 1 is over and I'm moving on to Day 2.

STARTING TOMORROW...30 DAY CHALLENGE

  • Jul. 6th, 2008 at 9:48 PM
BASIC BLOG
I am awful at carrying something through. I'm an aries and apparently, that tendency goes with my sign. We're all GUNG HO on the front end of any endeavor we embark upon but after a while...we get bored and/or just give up. We're like a rocket. We burn hot and intense early on and then we just coast.
So, using my own tendencies against myself, I'm going to challenge myself to just 30 days.
Only 30 days.
- 30 days of sticking to eating better and less
- 30 days of working out Monday - Friday for at least 1 hour
- 30 days of taking a multivitamin daily
- 30 days of actually taking care of my skin
- 30 days of investing in myself...my health and appearance, which I rarely do.
You see, since I don't have an "other" to hold me back the "other" has only melted into the current and really just is happy to let me stay the way I am or just get bigger.
I have the ability to change this.
I will change the script for 30 days.
Tomorrow will be day 1.
It's only 30 days.

MY IZZARD MOVIE - NOW WORKING

Finally, due to our house flood I was able to get the movie I took of Eddie Izzard off my camera which was toast due to being one of the hardest hit pieces from the water. For the full review, check out our family site...www.theretromoderns.com

Sorry for my shaky camera work, I was excited to be so close to him. This was taken after the Ryman Show at a Q & A afterwards. It was wonderful.

SYTYCD - MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOTED 2.

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 10:08 PM
DANCING 1
The judges got it right on Suzy...was not a fan, she's a salsa dancer who struggled with SALSA. Ummm?
Marquis I don't think we got to see his full range.

HOWEVER,
The opening number is what full scale hip-hop routines should be...LOVED IT.
Will post link or clip soon.
BASIC BLOG
I'm not going to back track at this point because frankly, I was kinda bored by the performances last week. Perhaps I'm annoyed that there will be fewer Wade Robson pieces this season because he's SOOOO busy these days. I did like the Mia Michael's piece last week though.

Now on with the show....

Mia has new hair - I like it, but wow is it bright. I just LOVE her...she is Banoodles! Mary is leopard princess tonight - wow.

So far, I love:
Comfort - her attitude
Twitch - love almost everything about him
Kerrington - has actual star appeal, if she does more than dance she'd be a hit on broadway
Mark - the quirky one
Joshua - I think that's the guy's name with the braces...love his range

There may be more but these are my standouts right now.
MLR how about you?!

DANCING 1
Been hit in the face with a harsh reality...I am not my career.
I need to find me outside of my career.
I'm working through this.

In the meantime, I'm here APE and will add my witty commentary soon on SYTYCD.
Much love.

ANNA COMMENTS
Well...here I am.
34.
Thirty-friggin-four. :) And I don't feel it.
33 was another year of steps for me - movement forwards and not backwards.
At 33 -
I was a mom for 3 months and I am still a mentor.
I feel more comfortable going back home (up north).
I finally got my wisdom teeth out and faced that fear.
I finally decided, I may actually be pretty and started taking better care of myself.
I learned that I have choices in life and I don't have to worry unless I choose to.
I turned down a promotion because I value my life.
I started new initiatives with my program.
I put a bike in layaway.
I lost 20 pounds (so far).
I learned that I love my husband more each day, and am glad he loves me.
I finally saw our bathroom refinished and its wonderful.
I started camping again.
I am trying to reconnect.
I am happy even when I'm sad.
I learned how to live with and love a puppy.
I saw Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway and it was a wonder.
I am ready for more.
You know...I always said I'd never be as old as my Mom was when she had me.
She was 34.
I'm now 34.
Still no child...still hope that there will be one.
Truthfully it's okay - I have hope still but I also realize that adoption is an option.
I will say that with each passing year the desire still grows.
Anyway...no dwelling on the have-nots for me right now.
Hey 34...let's make this another glorious year.

I DON'T KNOW WHY I LOVE THIS BUT I DO.

Since I'm a huge fan of Teller - I have to give him equal face time here! Here's the funny entry he submitted to George Romero's short zombie film contest. I loves it!

Oh and if you haven't checked out the family website - I've reviewed Teller's Macbeth Production that we went to see on our spring break! It was bloody good...www.theretromoderns.com (under 2 Cents Worth section).
Love you all - miss you too!

PENN GILLETTE...ANOTHER BALLROOM CASUALTY!

  • Mar. 25th, 2008 at 11:03 PM
BALLROOM MOMENT
I knew this would be the result. Penn Gillette...the louder, more outspoken half of Penn and Teller was voted off of Dancing with the Stars. Gotta love him though...2 dances with magic tricks, voodoo dolls and so on...I knew that the majority of the DTWS viewership would feel uncomfortable with the 6 foot 5 inch fabulousness that is Penn. Ah well...you can take the Penn outta’ the ballroom, but here’s hoping his wife Emily will reap the benefits of his new training and hell, the 50 pounds he’s lost make him look younger! We’re proud of ya’ Penn!
HAPPY DAY
Well, after 5 days of aching, my trip to the dentist made my decision clear. Wisdom teeth are so called because you’re finally full of wisdom when you decide it’s time for them to be yanked. On Friday, all four are getting yanked from my mouth. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it - but I’m fed up with the pain. So, what can you do? It’s all good - just keep me in your thoughts! (No love to the four teeth that are getting their eviction notice).
